Mariam Todd was born in Teheran, Iran in 1976 and left her place of birth as a young child after the revolution. She was raised in Karachi, Pakistan and now calls Virginia home.
She has been painting all her life and other than art classes, from elementary through A-levels, is self-taught. She creates intuitively as a process of trust and discovery that acts as a mirror within and without, touching moments of deep peace while creating. She is inspired by nature, people, colour, culture, social dynamics, and poetry.
She is the illustrator of Annie Smith’s forthcoming book, The Dancing Tree’s Secret, and a member of Artists in Cahoots where her paintings are available for purchase at the gallery in downtown Lexington, Virginia.
